The Reason for Having the Wedding Sand Ceremony For so many years, the unity candle has been known as the symbol of joining two into one. Well, you are able to see a change in such kind of tradition since there are more couples that blended the families with more than a set of parents. The step-parents get to be there in the wedding also. Or instead deciding who would light the candles representing the family of the bride and the family of the groom, why not have your own method of joining all of the people together? More and more couples are now opting for the wedding sand ceremony on their celebration instead of using the unity candle. Some might not have heard of such ceremony and it is becoming very popular, particularly on beach weddings. The table is placed close to the front of the ceremony site and this can be decorated with your wedding theme. At the table’s center, there is one vase being placed. This is just the traditional part of the ceremony since the vase would hold the individual gifts or the contribution from such special person that can take part in such ceremony. Usually, the couple chooses two colors of sand and that is one for the groom’s family and the other is for the bride’s family. Every parent would then go to the sand table and each would pour their color sand. You will then see alternating colors that symbolize the joining of families. Such smaller container may be carried by the parent or the groom and bride may select to have the containers around that unity vase on a table. With this, the parent may simply walk to the table and get the designated container, that can be labeled with the use of the place card holders, and pour that sand into the unity vase. You may also see more couples which also include their grandparents in the ceremony even if they are no longer around. When the couple would like to have each generation represented, then they could also add small container of sand representing the grandparents as well.

The celebration of marriage can then take place when the parents are seated. Near the end of the ceremony, the couple can walk to the table and put in the remaining two containers of sand and have the unity vase sealed. The couple can even ask to have such vase blessed if they would have that religious wedding ceremony.
